Tag Line Contest For New Company Name.

It has become necessary for Eddies Hand Painted Things to have a name change. As it is now, there is some ambiguity associated with the brand, mainly who is Eddie and why are the pieces signed Wincy as opposed to Eddie?

Well as opposed to popular beliefs Eddies is not a guy but a gal name Wincilla Edwards who decided to use Eddie in the company name to create continuity with a previously owned family business, Eddies Vivid Images. This should also shine some light as to why the pieces are signed "Wincy". It's short for Wincilla.

So with that said, the new name is "A Wincy Glass & Design". This name was chosen as it best reflects what the company is about  - hand painted glassware and other designs which are design by the artist Wincilla.  This name change means that our website, blog, facebook fan page, and twitter would all be change.

With all these changes, I wanted you my blog followers and facebook fans to be a part of the process. As result, I am holding a tag line contest for the new company name. "A tag line is usually a short, concise statement so you will not have long to say what you are trying to say and say it effectively. It must express a company's purpose and draw a persons interest enough to want to learn more. it must be attractive and informative to consumers and potential customers".

The winner will have the option of either the 'Lady Tiger' or 'Princess Daisy' hand painted expression stemware. All you have to do to take part is write your tagline in the comment box below the Tag Line Album on Eddies Hand Painted Fan Page.  The winner will be selected on Monday Oct 18, 2010 at 3 p.m.

Stay tuned for further updates associated with the name change.http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=242260&id=339557434633

Wedding Gifts With A Personal Touch

It has become increasingly difficult to find the right wedding gifts for couples today. Especially since most couples may already own all the essentials having lived on their own since college.  This creates the perfect opportunity to give gifts with a personal touch - gifts that say it’s all about you.
One really unique and profound way to to give a really personal wedding gift is to hire a live Wedding Illustrator to do a custom bridal gift.

Almost everyone gives money as a gift these days; but a really good way to personalize this gift is to add a special note with recommendations as per use - “ I want you to use this to enjoy a romantic day at the spa” or I wanted to chip in and help with savings for a new home.
If the couple is planning a destination wedding you could present them with a personalized hand painted champagne flute reflecting their theme to toast on their special day.
Please share your ideas of other great ways to give weddings gifts with a personal touch.

Black & White Wedding Fascination

I'm fascinated with the new trend of black and white color scheme that have hit the wedding scene.  It's fascinating because it's not just about the typical solid black and white or overly frilly look.  It's about incorporating textures and patterns such as romantic paisleys and damasks, lively polka dots, and striking abstract floral designs which exudes a mood of modern romantic charm.

Here are a few inspirations from WildFlower Linen that I think captures the essence of the modern black and white wedding color scheme.

These elegant white and black paisley champagne flutes from Eddies Hand Painted Things would be the perfect complement to a modern black and white wedding color scheme.

Share your views on the modern black and white wedding.

Bridal Show Review

Paws
I had a great day on Sunday at the Princess and Paws Bridal Extravaganza hosted at the beautiful Tennis Club in Poughkeepsie NY by Cinderella4aday.  It was a first for me and it did not disappoint.  It was filled with fun, excitement, and great food by Cosimo's Catering.  The fashion show was a hit especially with the 'paws'.  I established positive connections with other vendors and walked away with a few good leads. Now that's a day well spent.

Some Pics of me at the show provided by my friend lili

Jill & Ali of Cartwright & Daughters Tent & Party Rentals were instrumental in allowing me to do my "favors with function" display on their table setting. It was quite a hit with the guests.

Karen of laVbeauty did an awesome job on the makeup for some of the models of the fashion show.

Expression Stemware Too Part 2

Last week I shared some new hand painted expression stemware designs with you.  This week I have two old gals with a new twist - Lady Tiger and Princess Daisy. Lady tiger sports a new tiger print design on it's base an golden swirls on the lily. Princess Daisy had a color change with pink, black and silver and a black base which sports a princess crown.

Lady Tiger - The tiger lily is a true stand out, a spectacular bloom that signifies 'wealth and pride'. Make a statement get one for you or a friend. It will continue to bloom long after the real tiger lily fades.

Princess Daisy - Innocence, purity, and a love that conquers all, that's 'Princess Daisy'. This is a gift for the one seen as a princess; also a great 5th anniversary gift.

Expression Stemware Too

You my most ardent followers know that most of my designs are are floral centric and that I've posted an article on expression stemware before.  Those designs were totally about the flower - Lady Tiger which is a tiger lilly, Rosy Intentions which is a rose etc.  Well I have created some fresh new designs with flowers of course but they also depict character traits on the base of the glass.  In other words the stemware is about expression too.

I designed these stemware to give the bride the option of matching bridemaids gifts to their personalities or habits. The bride can match a favorite flower along with a personality to her bridesmaid, each stemware can be different to match the personalities of the entire bridal party.
They also make great girlfriend gifts.  Take a look!

Wedding Flowers!

Hi, it's Alyssa of Cinderella4aday again!

Going through Eddies Hand Painted Things, I started thinking about wedding flowers.  Wincilla can create any flower you want on her hand painted stemware, from popular wedding blooms to unexpected choices.  That's one of the beautiful things about her work -- she can create any design you desire to match your decor!

Want something traditional, like the gorgeous tulip-covered cake below? Eddies Hand Painted Things can create functional favors to match (including your color scheme)!

Looking for something a bit less traditional in your wedding decor, but still want to include beautiful natural touches? For fall weddings, autumn leaves can often be substituted for flowers.  Wincilla would be happy to create a commission for any design element you want!

An Inspiration Board from Cinderella4aday!

Cinderella4aday, a wedding and event coordinating team based in the Hudson Valley, is more than excited to guest blog on Eddies Hand Painted Things! New and creative ideas are right up our alley, and we're so excited about Wincilla's work.

I (Alyssa) fell in love at first glance with the glassware shown in the post directly below.  Their beauty is multifaceted; they're obviously gorgeous and colorful, but they also evoke happy times and memories.  My absolute favorite is the Pink Pansies (second from top -- you can see the purple version here).  I love them so much that I wanted to make my first ever inspiration board!

The Pink Pansies give me a summery, old-fashioned feeling, and made me envision a summery, old-fashioned wedding! I'm not envisioning one strong theme, just a fluid, lovely mix of intimacy, the outdoors, and vintage touches.

The picnic basket and blanket occurred to me because I visualize my uncle's old dishes, utensils, and tablecloths - not to mention his finesse in presentation - and I can picture the class and elegance they would add to the day.  The painted stemware would take it to a whole new level!

Thanks for stopping by Eddies Hand Painted Things!

Favors with Function

It dawned on me the other day that many of you were not aware that Eddies Hand Painted Things also offer favors, as we always promote bridal party stemware and all occassion gifts.

Are you tired of the same old wedding favors that you can find everywhere? The kind that you quickly discard as you get home? Would you like favors that are not only elegant but personalised and practical too? Well let me introduce you to Eddies Hand Painted stemware favors.

These are smaller 10-8oz. 7" stemware, which are pesonalized with your wedding theme, colors, flowers and guest's name. A wedding planner friend Jadana Donley of Red Carpet Event Planning suggests that you use the favor both as a place setting and water glass...very functional! Now here's a gift that you guest would appreciate and remember your day for years to come.
